Cancer care can be financially debilitating. Once the patient is diagnosed, the cost of treatment acts as a deterrent. Since there is low penetration of insurance, most Indian patients pay out of their pockets for treatment.
Sparsh, a financial assistance programme addresses this critical need of cancer patients in India by increasing access and affordability of medicines. Sparsh empowers physicians to decide on the extent of support based on patient's financial condition. Currently, it operates in 22 cities across India and efforts are underway to open more centres in diverse geographies to broad-base effective and affordable cancer treatment.
